Golden Globes Highlights and more!
You see this week, in addition to 8-9 hr work days and Hello, Dolly rehearsal for Cedarville University, I am helping with auditions for "ELLIV!" What is ELLIV you ask, well it's CU's big annual award show. It's kind of awesome. Kind of a big deal. To learn more, check out my posts from last April or check out my youtube channel.

TRUE LIFE: How to change a vacuum belt.
Yah. It was that dramatic. But fantastic nonetheless.
So here's the deal, since I've been in my own place (just passed the year mark, woot!) the vacuum I had well... sucked... but not in the way in which it was intended. Several months later, I acquired another vacuum that was also less than stellar in the sucking department. Long story short, I had 2 vacuums, neither of which were very effective.
Today my housemate Amber, our friend Kim, and I were introducing a new piece of furniture into our living room and decided to scrub the carpets and work a little bit of our inner "Trading Spaces" power and rearrange/redecorate. But before we did all that, it was imperative we get the carpets super swept-clean.
So we decided to investigate...
We discovered a broken belt...
We ran down to the Cedarville Hardware shop and got advice from a comical, middle aged man who seemed to enjoy making fun of us for our lack of vacuum expertise. We got a new belt and went home hoping to find a way to fix it.
It's a little daunting...
Kim and I started prying open and tearing apart the thing. A youtube search of "how to replace hoover vacuum belt" was helpful. Joe, a Home Depot-esque man (in his adorable little apron and all) was quite the assistance to us.
After prying and pulling and tugging and PRAYING we weren't breaking things... WE GOT IT ON!
And it worked SOOOOO well! We were giddy and cheering... for about 20 seconds... until...
it sucked so well, it sucked in my keys and lanyard from like 6 inches away!
it was immensely comical...
After removal, we were ready for round 2. Of course, we made sure all keys were at a safe distance away.
Then we had fabulously clean carpets. Happily Ever After?
Well, we ended up having a few little pieces left over from our electronic surgery. We hope they aren't vital to anything :-)

What is 1/11/11 other than = 0.008264?
Well, if you are one of the 7.6 BILLION people commenting about it on Facebook, in Tweet-world and everywhere in between... yes, yes it was. Because of all of your keen observations, the rest of the world couldn't avoid talk of it if they tried.
In honor of this ONE-derful faux holiday, Jackie, a woman that I work with that is so truthfully a 5-year-old trapped in a middle-aged woman's body, sprouted with exasperation "It's 1/1/11! We have to make a wish at 11:11!"
Being one fond of making wishes at special time marks (12:34, 1:11, 4:56, etc AND 6:25... my birthday), I was game for encouraging her childlike spirit and giving into her gleeful chortle. On top of that, it would give me a reason to stop working for a good 10 minutes "in preparation" for the wish making ceremony.
Ben joined us and we wished REALLLLL hard..... (Get your "1's" up!)
And I wished that... pshhhh! I can't tell you my wish, I have been told such logorrhea will keep wishes from coming to fruition.
But if it comes true, I'll definitely let ya know! Let's hope it happens by 11/11/11!
ANY OTHER WISH-MAKERS OUT THERE?

6 bucks?! The girl does it again!
WELL- without even TRYING I experienced some delicious deja vu tonight as I went out searching for replacement dress boots (again... after the DC terrain took their life).
So, as I prompted before... WHAT DOES $6 LOOK LIKE?
Yah, it can look LIKE THAT! Shirt and boots!
Good day.

What can you get for 6 bucks?
You see, I hit the mall after church with my friend, Chelsea to return some things. (I was not in the market for anything but black boots since my current leather stilettos crapped out on me... thanks pavement during nighttime stroll in D.C.) So among other places, peeked in Charlotte Russe and didn't see anything close to what I needed, but I could not refrain from checking the "Last Pair 50% off rack."
(I used to work at Charlotte, and you learn to constantly keep an eye on what will be progressing to that heavenly location.)
A few pairs of non-attractive shoes my eyes glazed over... and then... mmmm. I saw the shoes about a month ago and thought, "how hot would those be to dance in?" But at $25 bucks, and after recently buying 2 pairs of sneaks for dancing it was unnecessary. BUT- at half off (13-ish) and then having a $10 off any purchase coupon... $3 made it a DUH decision and they were mine :-)
Then during a stroll through JCPenney, a $2.97 loose, fun dance top caught my attention. (Maybe it was a gold day for me or something). Anyway- I never pass on shirts I can dance in if they are under $5 so it was mine as well.
6 bucks never looked so good :-)
The Juice is LOOSE!
What is OCW you ask? And why would I be there?
Well, OCW is Ohio Championship Wrestling and I was there because it was my brother’s debut match. And by my brother, I mean Juice Jennings, the blue ribbon rocker.
Ever since… ever… my brother, Anthony has LOVED wrestling. He grew up following WWF like it was his job. And when I say that, I mean like, we ALWAYS watched it, were constantly heading to Time Warner to get a box so we could watch Pay-Per-View events, and even went to several live events. In our Easter baskets, we loved our candy and all, but our favorite thing was seeing WWF tickets. True Story.
Anyway, starting in 4th grade he competed in wrestling at school up to his senior year when he was a state qualifier. In addition to that, in high school, my brother and a bunch of his friends started “ETW” Extreme Trampoline Wrestling and put on crazy events that hit backyards all over Stark County. It was crazy… but awesome.
Ok, back to the present. So Charmaine and I travel 2.5 hrs down some crazy, pitch-black-afraid-we’re-in-a-horror-movie back highways to reach this place in seemingly, the middle of nowhere.
When we got there, Char and I were trying to feel it out. Of course, having watched wrestling my entire life, I had an idea of what may be to come. Char on the other hand… haha…. Had quite an experience coming.
Enjoy the following videos.. you'll feel like you're there... minus the stench of sweat and delivered pizza.
Please direct your attention to the cheesy announcer.
Char's first glance at this world...
Then, who doesn't wish they had a grandfather with a dual-grey-braided-beard that adorned an ensemble of hot pink fringe shorts with "YOUR HERO" written on his bee-hind? Oh yah, that then suffered an extreme wedgie. I mean... I'm telling ya- classic entertainment, my weekend.
Then came JUICE!!
He blew into the ring making his debut and he pretty much tore up his scrawny, yet pregnant looking opponent.
Yah, I bet you wish your brother was as cool as mine.

2011 Word of the Year:
Efficacious: of having the desired result or effective as a means, measure, remedy, etc.
As I was looking to 2011, I realized that this is my first, complete "adult" year. Having graduated in May from Cedarville University, I am seeing how the latter part of the year was a bridge, a transition if you will. In 2011, I am hoping to come to a point (a place, a job, a status... whatever) where I feel I have a purpose and I am using the gifts and passions God has given me.
As of right now, I have a few options. Do I stay plugged into Cedarville? Do I expand in teaching dance? Do I pursue performing? I just think... efficacious.
This year has the ability to help me get to that place of desire. The only thing I must work through? Deciding exactly what that is.
Thank you "In The Heights" for my current encouragement:
"The neighborhood salon
Doesn't pay me what I wanna
Be making but I don't mind
As I sweep the curb I can hear
Those turbo engines
Blazing a trail through the sky
I look up and think about the
Years gone by
But one day-I'm walking to JFK
And I'm gonna fly!
It won't be long now
Any day."
